Like he who returns to soberness after a misty hangover, the British 'chansonnier' is back with his first studio CD in 16 years. And, surprisingly for those who thought him finished, he does so with a handful of simple and delicious songs in which he settles up with the past, prepares himself for the inevitable, remembers Syd Barrett and vivisections love. He is accompanied by old (Robert Wyatt, P. Manzanera) and new (Norman Blake, Gary Olson) friends, although what really matters here is that the sexagenarian cherubim retains not only his dignity but also his inspiration. J. Gonzalo
